Strength training after 50 is one of the best things you can do for your body. It builds and protects muscle, supports your joints and bones, and helps you keep doing the things you love. At SKfit San Diego, Sly coaches adults over 50 one-on-one in a private Hillcrest studio, so every session is safe, focused and built around you.
Why Strength Training Matters After 50
As we get older, we naturally lose muscle and strength unless we train for it. That loss makes everyday things harder, like carrying groceries, climbing stairs, getting up off the floor, or keeping your balance. The good news is that muscle responds to training at any age.
In fact, the CDC recommends that older adults do muscle-strengthening activities at least two days a week, along with activities that improve balance. The challenge is doing it safely and consistently. That is where a coach makes the difference.
How SKfit Coaches Adults 50+
- An honest assessment first. Before we lift anything, we look at how you move, any past injuries, and what you want to be able to do.
- Joint-friendly progression. We build strength gradually, so your joints, tendons and confidence can keep up.
- Corrective exercise expertise. Sly is a NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, which means he knows how to work around tight hips, cranky knees and stiff shoulders instead of through them.
- Balance and mobility built in. Every program includes work that keeps you steady on your feet and moving well.
- A private studio, not a crowded gym. No waiting for equipment, no loud music, and no one watching. Just you and your coach.
What Your Program Includes
- A free consultation to talk through your goals, health history and schedule.
- A movement assessment so your plan starts where you are today.
- A custom strength plan that Sly adjusts as you get stronger.
- Nutrition guidance to support muscle, energy and weight goals.
- Progress tracking so you can see how far you have come.
